In this episode, Jennifer Bucholtz discusses her on-the-ground investigation into the murder of Linda Malcom. During her time in Port Orchard, Washington, Jen visited several establishments that Linda frequented and met many people who knew Linda and remembered the days and weeks leading up to her brutal murder.

Hear what Jen learned after meeting with the current coroner, detective from the Port Orchard Police Department, Linda’s former landlords, neighbors who witnessed the fire, bartenders at her favorite bars, and friends.

Hear directly from one of Linda’s friends, Glen Lais, who shared recollections about Linda’s concerning behavior just days before her murder. Glen also shares how he found out Linda was killed, along with some noteworthy behaviors he observed from other people after Linda’s death.

During this episode, Jen shares an overview of her trip with Linda’s family and George and they discuss their plans to meet in Port Orchard in April for the 15-year anniversary of Linda’s murder. AMU’s cold case team will be hosting a meet-and-greet event on Saturday, April 29, 2023. The location will be determined in the near future and will be posted to the team’s Facebook group for Linda.

Jennifer Bucholtz

Jennifer Bucholtz is a former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Agent and a decorated veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Northern Arizona University, a master’s degree in criminal justice from the City University of New York’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a master’s degrees in forensic science from National University. Ms. Bucholtz has an extensive background in U.S. military and Department of Defense counterintelligence operations. She has also worked for the Arizona Department of Corrections, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City, and the Department of State as a law enforcement instructor. Ms. Bucholtz is currently an adjunct faculty member and teaches courses in criminal justice and forensic sciences. Additionally, she is a cold case investigator for her local sheriff’s office, host of AMU’s investigative podcast “Break The Case” and founder of the 501(c)3 nonprofit, Break The Case.
