As the 16-year anniversary of Linda Malcom’s murder approaches, AMU’s investigative team receives hopeful news that police are make notable progress in identifying Linda’s killer.

In this episode, Jen Bucholtz talks with Detective Andee Walton, the lead investigator from the Port Orchard PD, assigned to Linda’s case. Detective Walton provides her thoughts and theories on Linda’s murderer, updates on the status of DNA and evidence testing, and the potential role investigative genetic genealogy may play in identifying Linda’s killer.

Detective Walton also talks about the mutual benefits of a university team collaborating with a law enforcement agency to bring resolution to cold cases.

Jennifer Bucholtz

Jennifer Bucholtz is a former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Agent and a decorated veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Northern Arizona University, a master’s degree in criminal justice from the City University of New York’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a master’s degrees in forensic science from National University. Ms. Bucholtz has an extensive background in U.S. military and Department of Defense counterintelligence operations. She has also worked for the Arizona Department of Corrections, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City, and the Department of State as a law enforcement instructor. Ms. Bucholtz is currently an adjunct faculty member and teaches courses in criminal justice and forensic sciences. Additionally, she is a cold case investigator for her local sheriff’s office, host of AMU’s investigative podcast “Break The Case” and founder of the 501(c)3 nonprofit, Break The Case.
