What to Watch: Week of Jan. 6

The Greater Washington Board of Trade celebrates its 125th anniversary during its annual meeting Tuesday.

Peter W. Singer, senior fellow and director of the Center for 21st Century Security and Intelligence at the Brookings Institution, is to talk about his latest book, “Cybersecurity: What Everyone Needs to Know.”

The meeting also is to cover several topics, including the Silver Line, upcoming elections, Virginia’s new administration and the pending decision on a new FBI headquarters.

The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Capital Hilton Hotel, 1001 16th St. NW. $200 for members and their guests.

The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce is holding a networking breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at Teaism, 682 N. St. Asaph St., Alexandria. $35 for members, $50 for everyone else.

Wednesday, Jan. 8

Adrienne Alberts of the American Red Cross is to be the guest speaker at the Tech Council of Maryland‘s Workforce Development Roundtable. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the council’s offices at 9210 Corporate Blvd., Suite 470, Rockville. Free for members, $20 for everyone else.

Friday, Jan. 10

The Southeast Fairfax Development Corp.‘s Business Speaker Series begins the year with the topic of “Starting and Growing a Business.” The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at SpringHill Suites, 6065 Richmond Hwy., Alexandria. Free.

Saturday, Jan. 11

The third annual Transportation Camp DC conference for transportation professionals, technology experts and others interested in urban transportation begins at 9 a.m. at Founders Hall, 3351 Fairfax Dr., Arlington. $20.
