Annual Homeland Security Week Conference Opens Today in Washington

The 12th annual Homeland Security Week Conference opens today in Washington, D.C., with a full slate of speakers, presentations and exhibitors.

In Homeland Security will provide coverage of the event via our contributors and editors.

During this four-day event, more than 300 experts will make presentations on national security, counterterrorism, intelligence, biometrics, border security and cybersecurity, among other critical topics.

The conference is organized into two tracks that are critically important for national security – Southern Border Security and Cyber Security. The tracks will run simultaneously, so attendees can select those presentations that are most important to them and their organizations.

DHS, FEMA and NYPD Officials Are among the Scheduled Speakers

Among the scheduled speakers are Dan Coats, Director of National Intelligence, Office of National Intelligence; David Glawe, Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis, Department of Homeland Security; and Jimmy O’Neill, Commissioner, New York City Police Department.

Other featured presenters include officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the U.S. Secret Service, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Michael Fisher, the former chief of the Border Patrol, and Nelson Balido, CEO of the Border Commerce and Security Council, are scheduled to make opening addresses Tuesday morning.

Tech Companies Will Exhibit the Latest Innovations in Security

In addition, many exhibitors will be on hand to display the latest security products and technology. These exhibitors include SAPDatawatch SystemsShinobi Cyber and Green Bit.

The conference was organized by the International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC).
