Unlike the Crew Dragon Demo-2 mission earlier this year, the Crew-1 mission represents the first “manned” operational mission for the SpaceX and NASA collaboration.

The astronauts will spend six months at the ISS as members of Expedition 64/65 before returning to Earth with a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean in May 2021.

The four astronauts of NASA and SpaceX’s Crew-1 mission to the International Space Station pose for a portrait during a launch rehearsal at Pad 39A of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida on Nov. 12, 2020.
