Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence command in Sukkur, Sindh province came under attack today killing seven and wounding 37. ISI building have come under militant attack in the past, but violence has been relatively rare in Sukkur making this attack rather notable. Thus far police have said that the attackers drove an explosive laden vehicle into a barricade outside the ISI building, while another suicide bomber detonated his vest just outside a police building. Following the initial explosions, gunman then took control of a nearby government building leading to a firefight with security forces. Reports state that the fighting went on for at least an hour before security forces retook control of the area. Though there hasn’t yet been a claim of responsibility, it is highly likely that the Pakistani Taliban were behind the attack. An official statement from the group should come shortly.
