There’s a reason why preschools approach learning in fun ways. Children respond best to tactile play. Can you imagine a bunch of preschoolers stuck in school desks with pencil and paper with a time limit and a book to flip through? Where’s the playfulness in that teaching approach? Instead, preschools incorporate touch, smell, sounds and other exploratory methods to teach children about new things. Why wouldn’t you do the same in college?

Typically the warning signs of failure in school are obvious. Your grades are teetering over a C, you’re constantly asking for extensions, getting incompletes on assignments, or you simply don’t understand anything going on in the class. What’s worse is that some people don’t realize they’re failing until the final grade is posted. Waiting until the last minute to rectify your standing in the class is not a good idea.

At the beginning of each new year, new season, or even new month it seems that television shows and magazines create lists to help you become the new you. One topic that doesn’t seem to make headlines is how to be a better student. It doesn’t take a new year’s resolution to become a better online college student; it can happen any time. What is needed is commitment to the focus and dedication needed to become a better you academically.
