Human trafficking remains a major global problem. In this American Military University podcast, listeners will hear from two subject matter experts who have spent years researching, studying, and actively working to combat human trafficking around the world.
The podcast features Rebekah Journey, CEO of Legacy of Hope International and a 2017 graduate of American Public University. Journey provides insight into her community-based work in Cambodia to prevent human trafficking as well as the role technology plays in the global epidemic. She shares an international perspective of the human trafficking problem, including how traffickers develop relationships with victims to recruit and coerce them into slavery.
In addition, Dr. Michael Pittaro, assistant professor of criminal justice at American Military University, offers a domestic perspective of human trafficking and how human trafficking rings exist within both urban and rural areas in the United States. He discusses initiatives by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and how these agencies are actively working with public and private organizations to combat human trafficking.
