Like any athletic endeavor, it is important to recognize and award excellence. I am proud to announce that our bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in sports management have received accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA).

COSMA is a specialized accrediting body that recognizes excellence in sports management education. By awarding this accreditation to our University, COSMA acknowledges our dedication to providing high-quality and rigorous academic offerings. With only 35 institutions offering COSMA-accredited programs, our sports management programs have joined an elite group and are poised for continued success.

Our sports management faculty spent years preparing for and undergoing the accreditation process, which included a candidacy phase, programmatic self-study, a site visit and external reviewers. COSMA requires an educational institution to evaluate all aspects of its programs, using accreditation principles derived from best practices in sport management education. From learning objectives to faculty qualifications, COSMA evaluates program excellence based on its assessment of programmatic educational outcomes.
The Hard Work Is Never Done
I am so proud of our team’s achievement in receiving COSMA accreditation, but the work isn’t done. As a department, we are always striving for more so that our sport management students have access to the latest content, research and opportunities in the field, and this growth-oriented mindset is supported by COSMA’s goal of continuous improvement. I believe that there are great things ahead for the sports management students and programs at our University!
