Cybersecurity policy academy to focus on new strategies
The National Governors Association (NGA) announced that five states will join forces in a cybersecurity policy academy that will work to create new strategies to bolster cybersecurity.
The five states — Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada and Oregon — will work together to develop in-depth cybersecurity measures that can serve to protect against the ever-changing cybersecurity threats of 2016 and beyond.
The creation of the multi-state academy is largely an effort to put minds together and collaboratively create comprehensive new strategies that can be adaptive and successfully fight against cyber threats that seem to evolve by the day.

A growing list of threats
Officials from all five states will take part in the joint academy looking to leave no stone unturned. Cyber threats are not limited to one specific target, and thus any new strategies must encompass protections of communications networks, databases of private information; financial systems, and much more. Intense focus on cybersecurity as 2016 progresses
The federal government had a clear focus on cyber security as 2015 turned to 2016, and the focus seems to be intensifying as 2016 progresses. President Barack Obama recently [link url=”https://amuedge.com/u-s-extends-national-emergency-on-cyber-threats/” title=”extended the national emergency on cyber attacks“] for another year, and also announced the list of appointees who will make up the [link url=”https://amuedge.com/president-obama-names-members-of-cybersecurity-commission/” title=”new Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity.“]
One recent study noted that [link url=”https://amuedge.com/report-government-organizations-rank-last-in-cyber-security/” title=”U.S. government organizations rank last in cyber security“], while another study gave [link url=”https://amuedge.com/study-u-s-schools-failing-in-cyber-security-education/” title=”U.S. universities a failing grade in cyber security education,“] so the more focus, the better.
