The disease, leptospirosis, also known as swamp or mud fever, is passed to dogs and cats through rat urine. Pets drinking puddle water containing rat urine can contract the bacterial infection that causes internal inflammation and leads to organ failure. Three of the five dogs treated for the disease have died and the disease can be dangerous to humans if they come in contact with rat urine. However, dormant industry construction caused lags in technology to build the facilities and the company hit billions in project cost overruns and is three years behind schedule. Two plants, one being expanded in Georgia and a new facility in South Carolina are impacted by the filing, although for the Georgia project, [link url=”https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/29/business/westinghouse-toshiba-nuclear-bankruptcy.html?_r=0″ title=”the Energy Department has issued federal loan guarantees of $8.3 billion”].
