Create a Delete Day Once a Week

delete-day-online-learningSome people need a day to binge each week. Just one bright spot where they can cheat on their diet, escape into TV land, or go out for a night without the kids. This should also apply to your studies. All work and no play can make the online student a basket case! Make room in your schedule to have one day a week that has zero priorities in it.

Stay away from Wednesday and Sunday as a delete day. For most online students this is the day where you’ll have assignments due. Save those days for making up work, or responding to your classmates. If you work full-time your worst day of the week is typically Monday and Thursday. On Monday everyone is catching up from the weekend, and on Thursday everyone is thinking of the weekend and trying to get work off their plate. I would suggest tagging one of your busy work days as a delete day for classwork. This way you’re not double dipping in the stress pool.

A “delete day” is a time where you should just hit delete or reset. If you have a recurring event, you read on that day, or if you have a special chore to complete at home just move it. Even though you have some reading for class skip it that day. Give yourself some time to unwind and enjoy an activity that doesn’t involve the online classroom. I would suggest even turning off any email alerts you might have synced to your school account, and to make sure to clear your Google calendar on your smartphone, or any other applications with reminders.

Just remember if you start feeling frazzled you need to power down and unwind.
